Meet Boogie.

Jonathon Boogie Long is one of modern blues’ most distinctive voices, uniting disparate genres and eclectic styles into a captivating tapestry. A guitar prodigy, Long toured with local Louisiana legend Henry Turner at age 14, followed by Chris Duarte, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Luther Kent. At 22, he was awarded Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues”, besting over 4,000 contestants. B.B. King took notice, inviting Long to tour with him. Infinity Music Hall related King confiding, “You can really play that guitar, boy. I stole some of your licks.” A wide-eyed Boogie replied, “That’s OK. I think I stole all of yours.”

Long was first signed by Samantha Fish, who produced two albums with him. She offered, “He’s an all-around star, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness and take part in his rise.” Boogie was then snatched up by industry mogul Jim Odom (PreSonus, TuneCore, SoundCloud), as the debut artist for his Myrical Records label. Odom attested, “Boogie is what music is all about…pure talent, passion, and a natural performer. He was born to be on stage.”

Already a fixture in the Blues festival scene, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival releases his yearly performances as live albums. High ISO Music recounts, “Boogie shredded the other bands at the Best of the Beat awards. Terrorized the Blues and BBQ festival. Was easily the best blues act at Jazz Fest.”

In March of 2026, Long released Courage in the Chaos, via Myrical Media. Produced by LeRoux’s Jim Odom, the album is a mix of unexpected inventions and contemporary traditions. Again gracing Billboard’s Blues chart, it’s the young bluesman’s biggest, yet. Heralding it are three stirring singles and inventive music videos, a collab with guitar legend Steve Morse and son Kevin, and the most ambitious tour of his career—proving that there is not only courage in the chaos, but triumph.

        STUDIO CHOPS

        FOR THE RECORD

Courage in the Chaos stands as a well-crafted and cohesive effort that highlights Long’s strengths…a release that should resonate comfortably with any fan of the genre…it leans into what he does well, blending blues, soul, and gospel touches into a set of songs that feel sincere, lived-in, and confident in their simplicity.

        Blues Rock Review

The opening Southern rocker and lead single “A Fool Can See” should help get him, and this album, some well earned traction. It’s a crackling slice of hard riffing; raw but with a sing-along chorus and a short yet scorching guitar solo. On it, he rips into those six strings with nail-biting, goose-bump-raising intensity, capping that section at just 30 seconds, keeping the song at a taut, radio-ready three minutes.

        Rock and Blues Muse

What really sets Jonathan Boogie Long apart is how comfortably he bridges tradition and modern blues. His songs nod to classic blues structures while embracing contemporary groove. Boogie lets funk rhythms, rock energy, and soulful dynamics breathe inside the frame. The result is a sound that respects where the blues came from without treating it like a museum piece. Long’s music feels alive, restless, and unafraid to get its hands dirty. It’s blues that moves forward without forgetting the mud on its boots.

        MyAmpMusic.co

On “Insanity” the central riff provides a great backdrop for this tale of struggling to stay in control of one’s emotions as Jonathon delivers some exciting guitar as well as delicate acoustic picking on the outro, his vocals really expressing the angst of the lyrics. In similar vein Jonathon declares that “The World Is A Prison”, yet “when I’m gone I’m gonna miss it”, all delivered with striking guitar work.

        Blues Blast Magazine

With his newest release, Jonathon Boogie Long delivers what may well be the most fully realised statement of his career to date. This is a collection steeped in hard-earned wisdom, where every note feels wrung from experience and every lyric carries the weight of miles travelled. Across twelve tracks, he moves beyond the tag of guitar slinger and settles firmly into the role of storyteller.

        Blues Matters Magazine

Long delivers twelve tracks that feel earned rather than performed—each note carries genuine weight, and every lyric reflects years of experience navigating the blues landscape. Furthermore, what distinguishes this collection is Long’s willingness to move beyond familiar territory. He steps away from simple genre categorization, instead crafting something that speaks to the depth of his musical journey. The album captures that essential quality that separates competent blues musicians from truly memorable ones: authenticity born from lived hardship.

        Blues Chronicles

Long turns in a bravura performance on his latest album, Courage in the Chaos. The Baton Rouge native's astonishing guitar playing, dynamic vocals, and powerful lyrics give these songs a steeped-in-life, tempered-by-experience feel.

        Walleye Magazine (Print)

Courage in the Chaos…contains mighty blues-rock songs, killer guitar riffs and solos, funk and gospel flavor and a lush ballad. Tracks one though 10 on the album are polished studio productions recorded by all-star session players. Track 11 finds Long on stage, performing the blistering “Catfish Blues” for a Blues Tent audience of thousands at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

        TheAdvocate.com

Opening with his "A Fool Can See," your ears are hooked as Boogie reels you in with his Louisiana-tinged vocals, assertive yet tuneful guitar which he modulates up several keys and doubles his vocals at times. The opening progression is reminiscent of Blind Faith's classic sounds. This guy's the real deal! Boogie's guitar can sound like it's crying at times as his vocals soften emotionally to emphasize his soulful lyrics.

        Southland Blues Newsletter

The lead single from the Louisiana singer-guitarist and songwriter upcoming album Courage In The Chaos, “A Fool Can See” comes in hot and heavy, with Long and co. laying down a muscular mid-tempo groove that swaggers down the line between southern-rock and blues — and provides a solid foundation for Long’s gruff powerhouse vocals and blazing volcanic fretwork.
