About

Jonathon Boogie Long exemplifies talent and musicianship. With powerful lyrics, breathtaking guitar riffs, and a dynamic vocal range beyond his years, Long has turned his live performances into fan favorites at festivals and venues worldwide.

He began his career at the age 18, invited by BB King to tour with him. Shortly after, he was awarded Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues”, besting over 4,000 other contestants. Since then, he’s taken the short road to Louisiana legend, already a member of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and Baton Rouge officially designating January 4th as “Jonathon Long” day. He has shared the stage with B.B. King, Joe Bonamassa, Gov’t Mule, Gregg Allman, ZZ Top, Robert Cray, Dr. John, The Meters, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and many more.

His discography has been a regular in Billboard Top 20 Blues albums, spanning a wide range of musical flavors and proves that Boogie’s songwriting and musicianship effortlessly bridge genres—offering something for every kind of listener.

From the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, to the Troubadour in LA, to Romania, Kosovo, Germany and more, Boogie Long has brought his magic mix of Bluesin’ rock-n-roll & creole soul to the masses and with each new performance, he continues to redefine what it means to be a bluesman in the modern era.

On March 6, 2026, Long released his fifth studio album, Courage in the Chaos, via Myrical Media. Produced by LeRoux’s Jim Odom, the album is a mix of fresh writing and songs he carried for years, reading like a map of his musical life. Once again joining Billboard’s Top-20 Blues chart, it is his biggest album, yet. With it are three singles and music videos, a collaboration with guitar legend Steve Morse and his son Kevin, and the biggest tour of his career—proving that there is not only courage in chaos, but triumph.

Jonathon Boogie Long is one of modern blues' most distinctive voices, uniting disparate genres and eclectic styles into a captivating tapestry. His guitar work infuses the soulfulness of BB King with the virtuosity of Steve Morse. Vocally, his power and range evoke Tab Benoit and Greg Allman. As a songwriter, he exudes the authenticity of Jason Isbell and Cody Johnson, alternating between near-despair and boundless hope.

Yet on the stage, he is unprecedented. Country Roads magazine describes him as a force nature, crowning him "…the ringmaster, trapeze artist and human cannonball of a live blues-rock circus." The most exhilarating experience, though, is reserved for first-time audiences. Jamie Dixon of Guitar World reported, "We had one of those rare hallelujah moments where you get truly knocked off your feet by a player you’d never encountered before."

Long was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He grew up in a Southern Baptist community where gospel music filled every Sunday. At age 14, the prodigy toured as Henry Turner Jr's bassist, followed by Chris Duarte, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Luther Kent. At 22, Long was awarded Guitar Center's “King of the Blues”, besting over 4,000 other contestants. BB King took notice, inviting Long to tour with him. Infinity Music Hall related King confiding, "You can really play that guitar, boy; I stole some of your licks.” To which a wide-eyed Boogie replied, "That's OK. I think I stole all of yours."

After two successful indie efforts, Long graduated to label-backed albums. All landed in the Top-20 on Billboard's Blues chart. He was first signed by Samantha Fish, who produced two albums. Fish offered, "He's an all-around star, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness and take part in his rise.” Boogie was then snatched up by industry mogul Jim Odom (PreSonus, TuneCore, SoundCloud), as the debut artist for his Myrical Records label. Odom attested, "Boogie is what music is all about - pure talent, passion, and a natural performer. He was born to be on stage."

He is already a fixture in the Blues festival scene, with the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival releasing his yearly performances as a catalog of live albums. High ISO Music recounts, "Boogie shredded the other bands at the Best of the Beat awards. Terrorized the Blues and BBQ festival. Was easily the best blues act at Jazz Fest." Samantha fish recalls "…a fiery command of the guitar that left everyone's jaws on the floor." Artists who dared share the stage with him include Joe Bonamassa, Gov’t Mule, Gregg Allman, ZZ Top, Robert Cray, and Dr. John.

Recognition came quickly. Boogie has already been inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Baton Rouge officially designated January 4th as Jonathon Long Day. Gibson Guitars and Ernie Ball both endorsed Boogie, to make their brands shine a little brighter. And when real life wasn’t enough, fiction came calling. Writer-director Toby Hubner cast Long to star in his blues-themed feature film, We Are Kings. LA Weekly columnist Chuck Wilson wrote, “[co-star] Ryan, Long and [co-star] Pryce are so bursting with talent that it's impossible to pick a favorite.”

On March 6th of 2026, Long released his newest studio album, Courage in the Chaos, via Myrical Media. Produced by LeRoux's Jim Odom, the album is a mix of unexpected inventions and contemporary traditions. Blues Rock Review contends, "Courage in the Chaos stands as a well-crafted and cohesive effort that highlights Long’s strengths…a release that should resonate comfortably with any fan of the genre…it leans into what he does well, blending blues, soul, and gospel touches into a set of songs that feel sincere, lived-in, and confident in their simplicity."

On the album's live track, The Advocate adds, "Track 11 finds Long on stage, performing the blistering “Catfish Blues” for a Blues Tent audience of thousands at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival." Once again gracing Billboard's Blues chart, the album is the young bluesman's biggest, yet. Heralding it are three stirring singles, three music videos, a collaboration with guitar legend Steve Morse and his son Kevin, and the most ambitious tour of his career—proving that there is not only courage in the chaos, but triumph.
